Experience


After many years of contributing to Health, Karen joined as a full-time editor in 2021. Her publishing credits include HealthDay, Livestrong, Prevention, WhatToExpect, Working Mother, The Hearing Journal, U.S. News and World Report, The Washington Post, and Westchester Magazine, among others.


Karen started her career as a health policy reporter in Washington, D.C., where she covered congressional hearings on Medicare and Medicaid. From the late ‘90s to the early aughts, she reported on health business for Reuters Health. Prior to that, she served as Modern Healthcare’s New York bureau chief.


Karen is a fellow of the Association of Health Care Journalists' 2019 class on Comparative Effective Research. Her original reporting on COVID-19 was part of a Health enterprise package that won FOLIO's 2021 Eddie Award for a health/fitness article series.

Karen has a B.A. in Communication Studies, with a concentration in journalism, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.
