Experience

Huma Sheikh, MD, operates her own private practice specializing in migraine and stroke. She formed the Migraine and Vascular Section for the American Headache Society with her colleague. In their work, they completed a systematic review looking at the use of oral contraceptives in women with migraine. Before starting her private practice, Dr.Sheikh joined Mount Sinai Hospital as an assistant professor. Today, Dr.Sheikh treats patients with acute strokes at Mount Sinai in addition to her Locum Tenens work concentrating on stroke with Westchester Hospital. 

She has also contributed to a number of medical publications. Dr. Sheikh was awarded the Teacher of the Year award at Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Hospital, the Frontier in Headache Award, and received a grant from the International Headache Society.

Education

Dr. Sheikh received her doctorate degree from the New Jersey Medical School. She completed a neurology residency and a vascular fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Sheikh also completed a headache and facial pain fellowship from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts.
